Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

What is NLP (neuro linguistic programming)?

Neuro linguistic programming (NLP) is vey much a part of my work as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist. Enough people ask me to explain about it, so I think it deserves it's own separate area to be able to do that in the best way possible.

Neuro: how we process all the information we receive from our senses about our surrounding environment (our thinking)

Linguistic: the meaning we give to the information we receive from our external environment (including the language we use)

Programming: our personal response to the above, depending on our past experiences (how we have programmed ourselves to respond, consciously or unconsciously)

Why use NLP?

  • Teaches techniques and exercises which are powerful tools for positive change
  • Once learned they are tools for life to help yourself in the future
  • Allow you to notice changes in yourself only as quickly as they can be lasting
  • Help you change your reaction to any past traumatic events - not the event itself
  • Help you re-discover the skills you already have within you to make the positive changes you desire.

NLP is a way of comprehending how we see our world differently to others. NLP techniques take many forms that provide powerful tools to allow change within us. Some of these tools, once learned, can be used throughout life to provide a means of 'self help', so you can take control of your life in the future.

Do you believe that the things that have happened in your past have shaped the way your life is now? NLP would suggest that it is our reaction to these events from our past, not the events themselves that shape the way we are in our future. We can overcome any difficulties life throws at us if we think of them not as 'failure', but merely 'feedback' – things to learn from and move on. If we accept that this is the case, there can be no obstacles preventing us from having the most fulfilled life possible. The life you want is available to you. The question is, 'Do you want change enough to put some effort into it?'

I believe that you have the strengths, resources and the ability within yourself for transformation. After all, problem patterns have generally been learnt over time - you weren't born that way. If you learnt them in the first place, doesn't it make sense that you can un-learn them now, should you choose to do so? You may just need a guide with the right map to do it.

I can be that guide, so if now is the time to move your life forward, contact me to find out how I can help you.
